David Jarvis, CFA, MBA, is the founder and a principal of Corton Capital and acts as the firm’s Portfolio Manager. Mr. Jarvis is a veteran of the Canadian hedge fund and financial services industry with over 30 years in senior-level positions. As a founding partner of Spartan Fund Management, he conceived, designed and co-built one of the first incubator hedge fund platforms in Canada with over 15 funds and a wide array of investment strategies. Mr. Jarvis has provided expert witness consulting advice to various law firms and retail investors in respect of compliance and securities related matters as well as serving as a Chief Compliance Officer for various firms. He is active within the Canadian investment industry; serving on the Financial Administrators Section of the IDA (now IIROC) and was one of the co-founders and first Vice-Chairman of AIMA Canada (Alternative Investment Management Association).

John Duncanson is a shareholder of Corton Capital and acts as the firm’s Timber Analyst for the Corton Global Timber Fund. Mr. Duncanson is a Registered Professional Forester (RPF), Ontario. He has served as an expert witness on several international trade issues involving wood products, most recently as the Expert Analyst for the Government of Ontario in the U.S. trade case against Canadian ground wood paper imports.
John has a unique blend of experience having worked for over 40 years in both the forest industry and the investment industry. He has traveled the world touring forest plantations, saw mills, panel plants, and pulp and paper mills in Canada, USA, Finland, Sweden, England, Scotland, Portugal, Russia, China, Vietnam, Venezuela, Chile, Brazil, Ecuador, Argentina, Fiji, and New Zealand. He was the Timber Analyst for the former Exemplar Timber Fund. In 1988 he established Duncanson Investment Research Inc., providing independent research advice to clients including the Chase Manhattan Bank and Jennings Capital.
